We made it!
First day back and we made it! It felt great to be back but all I thought about was baby girl. I was so excited to pick her up. It's such a greater feeling knowing im doing something for my daughter to give her the best. We're starting the weekend off by her sleeping in my arms :)

The last supper
Well I go back to work tomorrow and I'm starting the first day back at our NY office. So baby and I are spending the day together at home :). This morning the intercom in our apt said there was a reported fire. So I bundle baby girl up and we walk downstairs to the lobby. I talk to our doorman asking what's going on and he was like "did you read the letter in the elevator?". Well apparently, the building is testing their fire alarms. I guess it's good practice.
What a refined little girl. Lol she always places her hands this way! Even when I'm feeding her the bottle

Interestingly enough...
I haven't started work yet but I already have a meeting scheduled for Friday and first day back I'm in the NY office. To be honest, this should be interesting. It's like the first day of school.
Thankfully, I really like what I do and who I work for. If I didn't going back would be a bummer.

The first of many...
Mani had a whole blog and it didn't save! Ugh!!!
Well, being the firsts of many.. This is baby girls first week of daycare but she may play hookie tomorrow to hangout with mommy. And last night was the first time she went to sleep on her own in her crib. Usually, I rock her to bed but last night was the first time I laid her in her crib, she woke up and put herself back to sleep. I was happy but sad at the same time. I was like man does she not need mommy to put her to bed anymore?? I know there will be days where she wants to snuggle with me :)
Insane to think about but baby is 12 weeks old already!! Where did the time go? I was packing her newborn clothes (which it feels like I just unpacked them) and just thought "man, she used to wear these tiny things and swim in them". I saved her hospital shirt and hat and thought the same thing! She was so tiny but now she's fitting snug in 3-6 month clothes! I'm soaking her up now :). I now understand why parents miss this age, they're just so cute and I just want to hug her and kiss her and love her!
Here's photos from her 12 week shoot and a happy birthday to my niece!
Well here's one after bath time. So serious!

It's paying off
Good food = more energy
More energy = hitting pavement (or rubber)
PS - second night baby slept 10 hrs straight!!! Truly blessed (and lucky!)

Luck be a lady
Daycare has been going really well. It's crazy how much I miss this little munchkin. She's all I think about and the unthinkable happened. She went to bed by 9:30 last night and slept until 7am!! I had to wake her up too and get her ready for daycare. Well baby girl got ready and off to daycare. I had to put her back in her crib at daycare because she was still sleeping!! Oh boy, she takes after her daddy. Well someone is off to face the cold weather

Sometimes it's OK if there's a "me" in "team"
That's the treat for me today. Usually when I go for a run, it's to release and just not think about anything. Not a thing in the world. And sometimes, it's a time when I think the most.
There are times I feel guilty of wanting time to myself but today I felt like it was a good time to enjoy it. When I had baby girl, everyone reminded me that my whole world was going to change. Gramza and I deemed that wouldn't happen. We would just be including another little person with us. Yes, our world changed, all for the better but one thing I didn't want to happen was for me to lose my sense of self or forget about the things I loved to do pre baby. I remember we were at a wedding and a family friend said to me, "take 30 minutes to yourself everyday. You'll need it to regain your sanity, to breathe...just to get back to who you are again." And boy, I took it to heart. Yes, I definitely need it. Any mother out there that says they want to spend every waking moment with their child, I believe there is some sort of fib when those words are uttered. Yes, I said it. I need a break sometimes and Gramza knows it. I'm not ashamed that there have been times that I've just cried because just the thought that I can't raise this baby girl. She's dependent on me. But Gramza helps me, he gives me my 30 mins and I spend it wisely. A long shower, a walk, a run, whatever. Just time away. It gives me sanity, energy, and keeps me healthy to love, adore, give my everything to my daughter. Truthfully, I am getting a little emotional writing this but it goes through my head and it's OK to say it and feel it and sometimes just blabber it out here. No apologies, no one said raising a child was easy and all about rainbows and lollipops. But the good weighs the bad by a hundred times fold.
Which brings me to what I loved to do pre baby. Believe it or not, was to run...be active. Why? It clears my brain, helps me think better, releases anxiety, and it's my me time. It definitely is hard to find the time, but I'm trying to stay commited because I believe it makes me a better mommmy. Call me selfish, but I desparately want my pre-pregnancy size back. I know it doesn't come overnight but it's what I know. So that's my project now, to get back to what I used to know and I want to start documenting it here: my eating habits, exercise, etc...just to communicate what works for me. So here it goes:
For exercise, it's hard getting back into a running routine and is frustrating that I'm not at my pre pregnancy pace that I was once used to. My solution, interval running. It gives me a chance to start at a slow pace and gradually work my way up to a faster speed, then a chance to rest. A plus is that it burns more calories than jogging at a steady speed =) Here's my 30 minutes (if you stay 3 more minutes you can run a full 3 miles)
0:00 - 2:00: Start with a 4.5 speed level
2:00 - 4:00: increase to a 5.0 speed level
4:00 - 6:00: increase to 5.5 speed
6:00 - 8:00: 6.0 spreed level
8:00 - 10:00: 6.5 speed level
then back to 4.5 speed level and repeat 2 more times...and if you have more time, then 3/4 more times =)
For eating, I love to eat! At the same time, I love trying to cook food that I love in a more calorie friendly way...What works for Gramza and I is making weekly meals on Sunday that last the week. So I'll cook 2 meals that we can alternate. I got the idea from my sister but we're cooking what we like. I'm usually a light breakfast eater but I've changed it for the time being.
For easy recipes, I've tried crock pot recipes from here: http://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/healthy-recipes/9-healthy-crockpot-recipes-try-winter. We really like the South American Pot Roast.
But for my breakfast I eat an egg white omlet with spinach and whole wheat tortilla (I sprinkle some hot sauce on there and it's just great)! Lunch - I'll eat some South American Pot Roast (recipe above) and a few cheese it crackers, a banana and a piece of chocolate just to get my fix. Snack - I'll have a greek yogurt. Dinner (usually before 8pm) I'll have a protein and veggies. This week it's Rotisserie chicken and roasted broccoli. I love roasted veggies, so I'll roast anything (carrots, broccoli, brussel sprouts, etc). For my sweet tooth I'll have a piece of dark chocolate. I stop eating carbs by 6pm and it's fine. And if I'm really feeling frisky I'll have one beer or a glass or wine.
I feel like I should be smoking a cigarette now. Not because I'm a smoker, but because I'm sitting in front of a window and typing on a lap top. True Carry Bradshaw style. =P
I had a lot of time on this blog because baby girl is at daycare. She's been doing really well, so I'm picking her up in an hour. I love that she smiles A LOT. And it wouldn't be a blog without a photo of her =)
Nothing says hot pink zebra pajamas then a baby throwing up a gang sign (look closely at her fingers) haha She is my heart =)

Through the looking glass
So today was baby girls first day of daycare... She took it really well and so did mommy and daddy. It's nice to know she's at a good place with good people.
Here's a snapshot of me taking a photo of her from the outside. Notice the reflection of the playground, trees etc.

Crying is for babies.
Gramza and I were just talking and he noticed something...
I didn't cry when I was proposed to
I didn't cry at my wedding or reception
I didn't cry when my daughter was born
But... When Vernon Davis scored the winning touch down for the 49ers and ran down the sidelines crying and hugged his coach... I wept like a baby.
What is wrong with this picture?

I'm Snow Cool
So tomorrows the big day...baby girls first day of daycare. Im getting everything ready for her: crib sheets, outfits, blankets, bottles, Diapers, wipes, labeling, everything.
I dong start work til late next week so were transitioning this week to get both of us used to a new situation. We're going to drop her off in the morning and I'm going to pick her up 10 mins later! Ha jk! But by lunch I'll pick her up. The good thing is that I can do some me things before I pick her up...gym, massage, haircut, shop. Just to name a few :) we shall see

Um, good morning!
Baby girl woke up at 5am and Gramza took this shift. I walked into the baby's room this morning and found this...

You are my sunshine...
My only sunshine
If only my format worked on this iPad. So the days are coming to a close and I'm back to work. I must say its a bittersweet feeling. Bitter being I won't get to hangout with my baby girl and see her change from day to day. Sweet being I'll hopefully get my groove back, regain adult interaction and my high pitch conversations can come to a close from 8-5.
I was feeling under the weather and it sucked being in a confined room while Gramza is taking care of baby girl and I hear her cooing. I think it was just my body being super exhausted. Now back in "my grind" having my tea and just resting before the head of household wakes up. But at least she smiles when I get her in the morning.
Well starting next week will be the transition period for daycare. I'll take baby girl for little bits at a time to get her and I used to the separation. I'm thinking her heart will break but the teachers have told me its usually the mommies that break down and the babies are fine... I'd rather have that be the case...
Below is a photo from last week and I can't believe she'll be 11 weeks on Monday! Time is flying and I'm not ready to catch up. But to end, she makes me happy when skies are gray.

Day 3
Hopefully she's getting used to the freeing feeling. She's going to be ready for daycare!! And her mommy is crazy!!
What's better?
I'm trying to document patterns with baby girl to when she gets tired... Well she sleeps at about 11:30 on average but sleeps til 6am, so what's better: baby sleeping at 8 or later but through the night? Who am I kidding, she laughs in my face if I try to put her down at 8!
On mommy news, my back is killing me so onto yoga stretches I go...and a heating pad. I must stay that baby furniture (swings, chairs, etc) is not ergonomically friendly. I must remember to lift from the knees! I'm also trying the early morning workouts every other day and the narcotic person in me figures I should wake up early now so I'm used to it by the time I go back to work, which is in 3 weeks.
At 9 weeks: smiling, sucking on hands, trying to grab, following with eyes, sleeping about 5hrs straight, eating 6oz of feeding, eating formula/breastmilk
Ps apologies for the typos in the last blog
Here we are practicing naps/unswaddled in the crib, which lasts about 10 minutes...
And on one of our days out.. She went for the puppy look
